Copyediting Fiction Digital Curriculum

Copyediting Fiction is a six-week course packed with the specifics of copyediting fiction manuscripts. The lessons are intense, but the practical editing instruction is also interwoven with spiritual truths to help lower your stress level and strengthen your relationship with God through your professional development.

This course is designed for new Christian editors wanting to enter the field of copyediting specifically for fiction manuscripts. Students will discover the levels of copyediting and the details of the editorial process; learn how to edit electronic manuscripts using Microsoft Word; review rules for mechanical editing and peculiarities to fiction such as pacing, dialogue, and showing versus telling; and receive practical, hands-on experience copyediting a portion of a fiction manuscript.

Students are required to have a copy or an online subscription of The Chicago Manual of Style and Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary.
