Fiction Editing Fundamentals Part 2 Digital Curriculum

$90.00

This course (previously called Editing Fiction Intermediate) builds upon the elements unique to fiction writing. Knowing how these essential components either help or hinder a good story will make a big difference in helping a good writer reach their goal of publication. In this six-lesson course, we will have fun identifying floating body parts (FBP), the five known senses, and the six additional senses that scientists agree are also important. You’ll roll your eyes when you learn about stilted writing and purple prose.

We’ll cover writing techniques that many beginning authors need to know, such as misplaced and dangling participles and gerunds, and false simultaneity, writing sentences in chronological order, and other sentence “rules.”

We’ll study common writing errors like how to handle multiple points of view, tense changes, consistency in character traits and scene props, and when preaching becomes too much. We’ll talk about how an author can cheat their readers, and when and how to include foreshadowing, flash forwards, flashbacks, and red herrings.

We’ll delve into book titles, prologues, and epilogues to help you know when to suggest deleting or adding these elements of the book, and how to spot a poor ending, and how to make it satisfying for the readers.

If you enjoy studying the blatant and subtle nuances of fiction, this course is for you.
