Feeling uneasy about your skills as an editor? Do you wish an experienced editor could review your edits and give you feedback? If so, this course is for you. Nonfiction Copyediting and Proofreading Boot Camp 401 is designed to give you real-life experience with nonfiction material. This hands-on course will give you confidence to copyedit and proofread for clients based on The Chicago Manual of Style.

There are no lessons to read—just pure editing. This four-week course will consist of two weeks of copyediting and two weeks of proofreading. The selections will get longer each week and will give you an idea of what it’s like to work with clients. The instructor will provide feedback on your edits to show you what you are doing well and areas where you could improve. Students are encouraged to ask questions and have group discussions about one another’s work.

I took this course because I needed feedback from other editors and to see how others tackle their editing. I think seeing other editors edits helped me most. The lessons were clearly explained. I want more of it!

I am glad that I came across PEN Institute’s website as I was searching for courses to improve my copyediting and proofreading skills. This bootcamp course was excellent, and I can’t wait to take more courses from the PEN Institute.

Jenne was a good instructor. She gave honest feedback, with both encouraging words and instructional suggestions for improvement. Great overall class.
