Nonfiction Editing 101 GROUP COURSE


Do you shy away from editing nonfiction manuscripts because you’re unsure about the technical aspects unique to nonfiction? Do you feel overwhelmed by charts and tables, quotations and citations, running heads and subheads, front and back matter, bibliographies and notes, copyright and ISBNs? Nonfiction Editing 101 is for you. This course will guide you through the maze of intricate parts that comprise a nonfiction book. After successfully completing the material, you will confidently know what to look for and how to format and edit any nonfiction manuscript. As a bonus, you’ll gain knowledge that will help you guide your clients through the tough world of publishing.


Instructor: Erin Brown

Format: This is the Group Course format, which includes an online discussion board and instructor feedback. This course will be conducted via Google groups.

Prerequisite: There are no prerequisites for this course. (This course is a prerequisite for Nonfiction Editing 201.)

Level: Beginner

Base price: $239 (members of The Christian PEN receive discounts)

Course length: This course is 8 weeks long; it begins on April 8, 2019, and runs until June 10, 2019.
